Description
The Unitree R1 EDU Standard (U1) is the entry configuration of the R1 EDU, Unitree's developer edition of the R1 humanoid. It keeps the 1.23 m, 29 kg body with 26 joint motors, adds secondary development and carries a computing backpack with an NVIDIA Jetson Orin module rated at 40 TOPS. It has no dexterous hands.
Development runs on the backpack's development computing unit. Unitree's unitree_sdk2 in C++ and Python works over DDS and is compatible with ROS 2 Foxy and Humble, with high-level interfaces for locomotion, arm actions, audio and video and joint-level control in debug mode. URDF, STEP and MuJoCo models of the R1 let work move from simulation to the robot, and Unitree's SLAM and navigation service runs indoors with the optional LiDAR.
The backpack also carries the dexterous-hand expansion module, with power, signal and camera connections. For teaching labs and research groups starting with locomotion, perception and voice work, the EDU Standard is the R1 EDU at its lowest computing level. Unitree publishes one R1 EDU with hands and an Orin module as options; U1 to U6 name the six configurations Robotix Market offers.
The R1 EDU Smart (U2) raises the backpack to 100 TOPS. Pro A and Pro B (Unitree Dex3-1) and Pro C and Pro D (BrainCo Revo 2) add two dexterous hands on the 100 TOPS backpack. The R1 Basic is the same robot without secondary development.

The Unitree Robotics R1 EDU Standard (U1) is priced at £12,250 in your market. For volume or project orders, contact us for a business quote.
Against the R1 Basic it adds secondary development, the computing backpack, the dexterous-hand expansion module and a 12-month warranty (R1 Basic: 8 months). Against the R1 EDU Smart (U2) it has a 40 TOPS Jetson Orin module instead of 100 TOPS. Against Pro A, Pro B, Pro C and Pro D it has no dexterous hands and the smaller module. The body, camera, audio and battery are the same on every R1.
Unitree's unitree_sdk2 in C++ and Python, on DDS with publish / subscribe and request / response, compatible with ROS 2 (tested on Ubuntu 20.04 Foxy and 22.04 Humble). It gives high-level interfaces for locomotion, arm actions, audio and video and joint-level control in debug mode. Unitree provides URDF, STEP and MuJoCo models of the R1 and a SLAM and navigation service for the optional LiDAR. Develop on Ubuntu 20.04; macOS and Windows are not supported.
Unitree's R1 unboxing film shows the robot in a hard transport case, a quick-release R1 smart battery, the charger and charging cable, a remote control with emergency stop, a stand set (base, support rod, bracket, quick-release clamp, wave washer and protective foam), a calibration steel shaft, body stickers and the user manual. As an R1 EDU it adds the computing backpack with its NVIDIA Jetson Orin module (40 TOPS), expansion rails, screws, the dexterous-hand expansion module and its leads. Unitree publishes no written packing list per edition, so we confirm the full list for your configuration with your quotation.
The backpack carries the dexterous-hand expansion module, with power, signal and camera connections, and Unitree publishes fitting guides for R1 EDU hands, the Dex3-1 and the BrainCo Revo 2 among them. The four configurations that come with two hands, Pro A to Pro D, use the 100 TOPS backpack. Hands for a robot you already own are confirmed with your quotation.
Like every R1 EDU, the R1 EDU Standard (U1) carries Unitree's 12-month manufacturer warranty (the R1 Basic: 8 months). It is sourced new through established distribution channels and ships worldwide, and technical support is coordinated with the manufacturer's service network. Unitree's R1 developer guide covers the SDK, the computing backpack and fitting the hands.
