The Unitree R1 Edu Smart (U2) is an enhanced education variant targeting universities, labs, and advanced STEM programs seeking a lower-cost bipedal humanoid for experimentation. With 26 degrees of freedom, the Smart configuration provides additional articulation over the Standard model.

The R1 family targets a lower entry price than many full-size research humanoids, making bipedal robotics experimentation more accessible. The Edu Smart is marketed as a teaching and development platform rather than turnkey product.

Full secondary development support enables custom algorithm implementation and curriculum integration for robotics education programs.
